It is a unique opportunity for churches to work together in service and ministry to athletes, their families, Games officials and organisers as well as hundreds of thousands of visitors and local British people. What we do with this "once in a lifetime" event is limited only by the imagination and financial commitment of denominational/agency leaders and those who sit in the local church pew.
Current Projects
In the Autumn of 2002 Jon and Sandra Burns gathered a group of people to meet in Yarm with the aim of starting a new church in the area, ‘a church for people who don’t like church’.
The values of the church are centred around ‘Reality’ - being real in our relationships with God and each other, as well as towards worship, prayer and the Bible. It is also felt that the Church should strive to be an ‘Inclusive’ and ‘Caring’ place.
Born in 2004, Lionsraw has a vision to empower 1 million football fans to donate 10 million hours of help to others by 2020, Lionsraw welcomes any football fan who wants to use their passion for football to make a difference in this world. Lionsraw was founded by some some England fans but were open to everyone who shares our values.
